LAKE GENEVA BIKE PATH

The Blue Route travels from Sage Street to Edwards Blvd., taking bicyclists from downtown Lake Geneva to Lake Geneva Middle School along the old railroad corridor.  It is the longest trail connecting with all of the other routes along the way.

The Green Route travels from County Road H to Veteran's Park along Townline Road.  This route provides parking and a recreational opportunity. 

The Red Route, constructed in conjunction with the Highway 120 bypass, travels from County Road H north along the east side of Edwards Boulevard.

The Brown Route travels from Bonnie Brae Lane to Edwards Blvd., along Bloomfield Road and South Street (in front of the school properties).

The Yellow Route circles the Lake Geneva Business Park pond and runs through Veteran's Park.

Please Note:  parts of the Bike Path are still under construction.

EAST TROY ELECTRIC RAILROAD
2002 N. Church Street, East Troy, WI.  Running the Rails May 13-October 28, the East Troy Electric Railroad offers scenic rides aboard one of its 15 vintage trolleys through Southeast Wisconsin’s beautiful Kettle Moraine State Forest.  This landmark non-profit, volunteer-run railroad operates 10-mile round trips from its East Troy depot and museum to the turn of the century-styled depot at the Elegant Farmer in Mukwonago.  Riders can detrain to enjoy this full service farmer’s market with delicious foods before returning to East Troy.  For those wanting to know more about this yesteryear 19th and 20th century mode of travel, the depot features a memorabilia museum, fully running model railroad lay-out and gift shop. In addition, the trolley barn is open for public viewing during operation hours. PARKS, NATURE AREAS & HIKING PATHS
With beaches, forests and natural wildlife preserves, the Lake Geneva area provides a great deal for outdoor enthusiasts of all interests. A partial list of natural areas is presented here, with additional information available through the Lake Geneva Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Wild Birds Unlimited also has produced a pamphlet "Exploring Nature in the Geneva Lakes Area".

BIG FOOT BEACH STATE PARK
This 272 acre park has a magnificent public beach and five miles of hiking trails including lagoons, wooded areas, open grass and marshlands that are home to many bird species. Located on South Lakeshore Drive, Lake Geneva. State Park sticker is required and can be purchased on site at any State Park.  (888) 947-2757.  www.wiparks.net

DUCK LAKE NATURE AREA
On the Southern side of Lake Como is this 2-mile lakeshore walkway passing through brushes woods and pastures. Also called "Warbler Walkway" because most of the state’s warblers have been seen there. Located off Grandview Road.

FONTANA FEN
This 10-acre conservation area on Hwy 67 is home to one of the rarest type of wetlands, the calcareous fen. A fen is a type of wetland prairie with an internal ground water system conducive to supporting only a few specialized plants. Located on Hwy 67 between Fontana and Walworth West of St. Benedict Church.

FOUR SEASONS NATURE PRESERVE
This 66-acre nature preserve is part of the City of Lake Geneva Park System. 40 acres of wetland (sedge meadow, pond, calcareous fen and tamaracks) and 20 acres of upland that are being restored to prairies (xeric, sand, short-grass, tall-grass, wet mesic and oak opening with mature oaks and hickories) are all on one site. The preserve is bordered by 250 acres, which are part of a primary environmental corridor, and is open to the public. The trail has plaques identifying various plant and animal species.

KETTLE MORAINE STATE FOREST
22,000 acre State Forest encompasses a region of rugged glacial hills, meadows and varied wetlands.  150 miles of groomed and marked forest trails throughout provides a magnificent backdrop for hiking, biking, skiing, equestrian trails and camping.  The Southern Forest headquarters is located on Hwy. 59, 3 miles west of Eagle.  A state park sticker is required for most of the areas and can be purchased on site.  Also a trail pass is required of individuals 16 years of age and older for skiing, biking, and horseback riding.  Kettle Moraine Headquarters is about 30 minutes northwest of Lake Geneva.

KISHWAUKETOE CONSERVANCY
Established in 1989, this natural area has been preserved for the enjoyment of all. The name "Kishwauketoe" is the Potawatomi Indian word for "sparkling water". More than four miles of trails through this 230-acre wetland area will take you through many kinds of habitats and plant communities. Its main entrance is located in Williams Bay along Hwy 67 just North of Geneva Street.

20.6 MILE WALK AROUND GENEVA LAKE
Free.  Access by any public park on the lake.

A full-color, pocket-sized booklet with trail information, estate history, and beautiful shoreline photography.  It is available for $5.00 at local retailers or by calling Nei-Turner Group at (262) 245-1000.

WALK, TALK & GAWK
A guide to the Lake Geneva Shore Path divides the path into seven segments with access information, condition of path, parking information and points of interest.  Sold at many area stores or by mail order for $9.00 at P.O.
